The marketing and promotions teams at minor league affiliates go to great lengths to drum up interest in games, and the lower you go on the farm system totem pole, the more shit that has to be thrown against the wall in hopes that something sticks. Since guys like Gabriel Lino and Brock Stassi aren’t household names, MiLB games have to resort to being a clearinghouse for off-the-wall events and activities that could satiate even the shortest attention span.

We’re lucky that the Phillies farm system has always excelled in this department, especially Reading, but the folks up in Lakewood are bring the heat as well. Next Saturday night (unfortunately the day I fly back to Los Angeles), the BlueClaws will be playing as the “BruceClaws” to celebrate their fifth annual Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Night. And if you dig the jerseys, they’ll be auctioning them off during the game, with all proceeds going to BlueClaws Charities and their Community Partners.

And to make this a totally Jersey experience, Bruce cover band Blue Highways will perform a set in the Coors Light WRAT Trap from 5:30-7pm.

If the BlueClaws are looking for some more promotion ideas, maybe they need to take a tip from their friends at the Trenton Thunder. I’m shocked that this video still hasn’t hit 2000 views!
