David Maddox-Jones used to front the underrated Departure, and made a brief stop in NewsIslands, before cobbling together his latest project Strangers. The band really ramped up their efforts last years, releasing three EPs, which led to lots of real nice things being said about them by cool folks Artrocker and stuffy industry rag Music Week.

“Safe/Pain” is the band’s second single of the year, and is more of the dark synth-pop you’ve come to expect from them. With a video that matches the intoxicating frenzy of the song, this looks very much like the band’s line in the sand, effectively letting folks know that they’re here and ready to be noticed. Don’t sleep on another one of David’s bands. This guy has talent to burn.

The single is out August 20th through the band’s own label, Stranger Sounds.
