BLOOD SPORT: INDIE NOISE FROM ENGLANDPosted: August 7, 2012
Suppose Ian MacKaye stayed up all night listening to Fela Kuti records. And instead of going to sleep, he rounded up a few friends and formed a band. They spend all day in their garage banging out their take on Fela Kuti, creating a noisy, aggro tussle with Afrobeat that puts a new spin on a few genres. Suppose that band actually exists and they’re called Blood Sport, and they’re from Sheffield and made up of three gents named Alex, Sam, and Nick.
Ian’s at home enjoying retirement.
If you missed out on their last release, now is your chance to join their post-punk celebration, one that comes with all the guitar pedals and stolen swimming shorts you need. Their new EP, Fruits, is out now on T.D.T. Records as a pay-what-you-want deal. Get it here.
