Word on the street on the internet is that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Brian Dawkins starting in just over a week. From Philly.com:

Former Eagles Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins will join ESPN as an NFL analyst, the network will officially announce Wednesday. Dawkins, a nine-time Pro Bowler who was a fan favorite with the Eagles, will appear on studio programs throughout the year such as SportsCenter, NFL Live, Audibles, and NFL32. He makes his debut on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m., when he will appear alongside former NFL standouts Jerry Rice, Keyshawn Johnson, and Marcellus Wiley on Audibles.

He takes the place of former teammate and Turbo Bird Hugh Douglas, who is stepping over to ESPN2’s Numbers Never Lie as a permanent co-host. That’s a SABR-oriented show, right?

Good to see him already find his footing after the NFL. While it would be great to see him on the sidelines for the Birds, perhaps this is just a detour to the inevitable destination. While it’s hard to say what type of analyst he’ll be, but suffice to say his positivity we’ll be in stark contrast to some of the blowhards currently at the “Worldwide Leader.”

Here’s Dawk from a few months ago talking about Tebow and Peyton Manning

Hope he doesn’t cover the Patriots! Philly.com funny guys are a dime-a-dozen.

And if you’ve forgotten, Dawk’s #20 will retired on 09/30 against the NJ Giants.
